Dr. Donald Stewart is a Board-Certified and Fellowship-Trained foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon. His interests consist of a blend of sports medicine as well as trauma and hindfoot/midfoot reconstruction. He completed his Fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Foundation Orthopedic Athletic and Reconstruction Research Fellowship in Houston in 2008 as well as another two month fellowship in Germany.

Since 2007, Dr. Stewart has volunteered as the assistant team physician for Rice Athletics and the Houston Rockets. He also treats achilles injuries and in cases that require surgery, he will perform minimally invasive incisions for faster healing time.

As a native of Fort Worth, he spends his free time hosting cookouts with his family and friends.

A lifelong Texan, Dr. Eric Wieser is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon, who has been practicing in North Texas for nearly 20 years. After graduating with honors from Trinity University in 1994, Dr. Wieser completed Medical School with honors from the Baylor College of Medicine. In 2003, he finished his Residency at Vanderbilt University. Following his Fellowship in Spine Medicine at the prestigious UCLA School of Medicine, Dr. Wieser returned to North Texas and joined the staff of Arlington Orthopedic Associates where he became one of the co-founders of the Baylor Orthopedic and Spine Hospital in Arlington.

In addition to his many professional accolades, Dr. Wieser is the founder and medical director of the Texas Comprehensive Spine Center, where he specializes in minimally-invasive spinal surgery as well as complex cervical and lumbar spinal reconstruction. Dr. Wieser has been consistently recognized by his peers as a “Top Doc” in Fort Worth Magazine, Big D Magazine, Living Magazine, Texas Monthly, and has been featured in several periodicals in Texas.

Aside from his medical accomplishments, Dr. Wieser is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, running, going to the lake, and cheering on his favorite sports team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Dr. Kay has been proudly servicing North Texas and practicing for over 20 years. As a Physiatrist, Dr. Kay specializes in non-operative management of musculoskeletal disorders and injuries.

Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. Kay completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Methodist Hospital in 1992. He is a team physician and sports medicine consultant for the DFW Express baseball organization. He has been the Medical Director for Parkland’s Camp for Burn Injured Children for over 20 years. Voted consistently by his Medical Peers as a “Top Doc” for Tarrant County, Dr. Kay continues to receive raved reviews from his patients and their families.

Originally from Union Lake, Michigan; Dr. Mark Kazewych specializes in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He graduated from Kettering University (GMI Engineering and Management Institute) in 1990 but later decided to pursue a career in medicine and attended Northeastern Ohio Universities College Of Medicine. Dr. Kazewych graduated Medical School in 1995 and Residency at Henry Ford Health Systems.

Dr. Kazewych specializes in orthopedic surgery including advanced arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee, and hip as well as joint preservation surgery. He has had over 20 years of experience and he has been recognized by Americas Top Orthopedic Surgeons as well as Good Morning Texas. In 2018 he became the Official Team Physician of the University of Texas at Arlington Athletics.

Dr Kazewych has used his engineering background to assist in design and manufacturing of orthopedic implants. He is currently active as an FDA researcher for the national research study of Cartiheal, a cutting-edge new technology to restore damaged cartilage. He has special interest in preserving joints through the use of MACI, osteotomies (limb realignment) cadaveric joint replacement. When indicated, Dr Kazewych also performs traditional shoulder, knee and hip replacements.

Dr. Kazewych admits that quitting engineering was one of his biggest challenges, but he doesn’t regret his decision. Outside of his busy work schedule he makes time to watch and coach his sons in hockey.

Born and raised a Texan, Dr. Ryan Murphy joins us as a fellowship trained Orthopedic Spine Surgeon. After completing undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, he would go on to complete medical school and residency in Orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. Following his Orthopedic training, he further specialized in the field of Spine Surgery; completing a fellowship in spine surgery under the direction of both Orthopedic Spine and Neurosurgery Spine surgeons at the University of Southern California.

Finding his way back to Texas, Dr. Murphy has joined AOA Orthopedic Specialists with an interest in bringing minimally invasive and single position surgical techniques, including robotically assisted spine surgery, to the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex.

Outside of the office and OR, Dr. Murphy enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, working in the garage and on cars, or getting outdoors to go hunting, golfing, or skiing.

Dr. Lowry received his Doctorate of Medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine (Omaha, NE) in 2003, his Residency at the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 2008, and his Fellowship at the Adult Reconstruction Center for Joint Preservation and Replacement Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopaedics.

Dr. Lowry has been recognized for his hard work, philanthropy, and care. In 2017, he was recognized as a Distinguished Medical Member of the American Arthritis Foundation and has been consistently recognized by his Orthopedic peers as a Top Doc and Super Doc in North Texas. He thoroughly enjoys helping patients regain their mobility and get back to enjoying their lives again. Aside from his many accomplishments as an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Lowry enjoys spending time with his family and relaxing at home.

As a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physiatrist, Dr. Troy Foster has been with AOA Orthopedic Specialists since July of 2015. He obtained his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the University of N. Texas HSC-Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011.

A lifelong Texan, Dr. Foster originated from Ovilla, TX and he actively volunteers in Medical Services at Mission Arlington, Mansfield Cares, and The Arthritis Foundation Preparticipation Physicals, Habitat for Humanity, and several other organizations.

In addition to his medical history, Dr. Foster also enjoys outdoor activities such as backpacking, skiing, fishing, hunting, and spending his free time with his 7-year-old triplets. Dr. Foster describes himself as a “do-it-yourself man” with a passion for traveling as well as maintaining an active lifestyle outside of work.

When asked about his biggest challenge, Dr. Foster replied,“During my second year of high-demanding medical-training, my wife was on complete bed rest with our triplets for 13 weeks. We lived in a 2-bedroom apartment with 2 Labradors.”

SPECIALTY

Practicing Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Foster focuses on identifying and diagnosing causes of pain, planning out treatment, and managing levels of pain while actively working towards eliminating their source non-surgically.

IDENTIFYING SOURCES OF PAIN

An initial visit will start with a physical and verbal examination to get a history of what symptoms are experienced, how long, medication history’s, and previous treatments.

Dr. Foster is one of two doctors in the group that perform EMG/Nerve conduction studies. These studies are used to diagnose nerve disorders involving impingement and damage. In this study it will be determined if and where a nerve impingement exists, the extent of the impingement, and the extent of the damage that has occurred and where.

TREATMENTS

Treatments provided includes specialized exercise, steroid therapies such as oral, local injection, and x-ray guided injections into the spine under anesthesia, nerve blocks, nerve ablations, and, for chronic pain that fails to respond to anything else, he can preform a trials of implantable devices that override nerve signaling of pain.

Originally from Keller, Dr. M. Todd Daniels is a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician, specializing in musculoskeletal medicine and electro-diagnostics. Dr. Daniels received his Doctor of Medicine and internship in internal medicine at the University of Texas at Houston in 1998 and 1999. In the same year, he also started his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, which he completed in 2002.

Although Dr. Daniels had a childhood ambition of becoming an FBI agent, he thoroughly enjoys what he does for a living now and takes pride in the care he provides to his patients.

Since 2003, Dr. John Drkulec has consistently provided top-tier sports medicine and orthopedic care to the Mansfield, Grand Prairie, and Midlothian area. In 2007, he spearheaded AOA’s Mansfield location development, serving as the Head of the Orthopedic Surgery division at Mansfield Methodist Medical Center from 2007 until 2018. A fixture on the sidelines of area football games, he has also served as one of the main Sports Medicine Providers for MISD athletes and their families since 2007.

His portfolio of high-profile sports team physicianships continually expands. In 2019, Dr. Drkulec’s reputation landed him as the team physician and lead surgeon for the XFL’s Dallas Renegades. Additionally, Dr. Drkulec stays actively involved with the University of Texas in Arlington Mavericks Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, and Track teams. Previously having served as the medical staple of the Grand Prairie Air Hogs Minor League team as well as both Men and Women’s Big 12 Basketball Tournaments.Dr. Drkulec works tirelessly as a patient advocate – serving on the Board of Directors of AOA since 2016 and most recently elected the Medical Director of the Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital of Arlington.

He received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas Health Science Center in May of 2007, his Residency at the University of Missouri – Columbia in 2012, and his fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery in 2013 at the world-renown Texas Medical Center in Houston, TX.

Between his busy schedule of work and spending time with his family, including his wonderful wife Christina and his 3 children Cameron, Joel and Jonah, Dr. Crawford is an accomplished photographer and has parts of his collection displayed prominently in our AOA Irving Clinic. He participates in a multitude of activities such as hiking, swimming, running, and watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
