Visitation
Visiting hours are from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. We currently have open visitation during those hours. However, based on the guest’s condition, our staff may decide to limit visits.
Children are allowed to visit but must be under constant supervision by an adult. We ask that children refrain from running in the hallways or other activities that may disturb our guests.
One visitor is allowed to stay overnight with a guest in his or her assigned room.
Bath amenities
Shower and bath gel, along with shampoo and conditioner, are provided for our patients and/or guests. If you are a patient and would like to bathe, please check with your nurse beforehand.
Bathrobes
All patients are provided with a bathrobe for use during their stay. If you would like to purchase one, let your nurse know.
Phone services
Each room has its own private phone for making and receiving calls. Look to the communications board for your phone number.
Internet access
Complimentary Internet access is available throughout the hospital. Access is listed as “Surgical Public”.
Television
Flat-screen TVs are located in all guest rooms on the second floor, second-floor waiting area and the Bistro. A channel guide is available in the drawer beside the bed.
Inpatient care
Patients who have been directed by their physician to stay overnight following surgery or a procedure will have specialists monitoring recovery during their stay.
Hourly rounding
Your nurse and tech will check on you every hour, so we can ensure you are recovering as expected. The nurse will round on the even hours, and the tech will round on the odd hours. Please let the staff know if you need anything.
Post-surgery pain management
The care and comfort of our guests is our first priority. If you experience pain during your hospital stay, we want to know. Everyone’s pain is different, and you have the right to have your pain managed effectively and safely. Ask your physician what pain you should expect after your procedure. We will always treat your pain.
Physical therapy & rehabilitation
We want you to recover as quickly and completely as possible, so you can return to your active lifestyle. Depending on the nature of your surgical procedure, a physical therapist will work with you as early as a few hours after surgery.
Our rehab programs are based on restoring function using evidence-based protocols. We tailor all physical therapy to your individual needs, and our therapists will also prepare you for your return home.
In some cases, extra time for recovery may be needed. Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington and physicians on the medical staff have relationships with several home health companies and rehabilitation centers for assistance post-surgery.
