Recovery in Comfort and Care
Some procedures require our guests to spend a couple of days with us to recover, rehabilitate and be monitored by staff and physicians. We’ve made every effort to maximize patient comfort and speed the recovery process with services that have more in common with an upscale hotel than a hospital.
Inpatient Guest Suites
Our comfortable, oversized guest rooms are private, and designed to help guests sleep better with fewer interruptions. Every room has a private bathroom and is equipped with a flat screen TV, phone and wireless internet access. Recognizing the importance of family support in a patient’s recovery, Baylor Scott & White Arlington welcomes a family member or significant other to spend the night with comfortable accommodations in the patient’s room.
Dining
Hospital food has rarely enjoyed a reputation for excellence, but Baylor Scott & White Arlington once again raises the bar with exceptional hotel-like room service. Meals are selected from the guest menu and prepared fresh to order. Dining options are created to meet physician guidelines and aid in improving health and recovery. For visitors, our full-service Bistro offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in an inviting environment. The Bistro is located on the first floor, accessible through the main lobby.
- Breakfast is available from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday.
- Lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Dinner is available to guests and visitors nightly. Orders may be made at the 2nd floor nurses’ station.
Visitation
Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. We currently have open visitation during those hours; however, based on the guest’s condition, the staff may decide to limit visitation. Children are allowed to visit but must be under constant supervision by an adult. They are not allowed to run in the hallways or engage in other disturbing activities. One visitor is allowed to stay overnight with a guest in his or her assigned room.
Hourly Rounding
Your nurse and tech will be doing hourly rounding. The nurse will round on the even hours and the tech will round on the odd hours. Please let the staff know if you need anything.
Pain Management
The care and comfort of our guests is our number one priority. If you experience pain during your hospital stay, we want to know. Everyone’s pain is different, and you have the right to have your pain managed effectively and safely. Ask your physician what pain you should expect after your procedure. We will always treat your pain.
Physical Therapy
The goal of any physical therapy program is to help patients recover as many of their post-operative abilities as possible. At Baylor Scott & White Arlington we want our guests to recover as completely and as fast as possible so they can return to an active lifestyle. Depending on the nature of the surgical procedure, a physical therapist will work with guests as early as hours after surgery. Our rehab programs are based on restoring function using evidence-based protocols. These programs are designed to reflect the individual needs of each patient. Our physical therapists will also prepare guests for their return home.
In some cases, extra time for recovery may be needed. Baylor Scott & White Arlington and physicians on the medical staff have relationships with several home health companies and rehabilitation centers that can help our guests post-surgery.
